Seeking professional help for your mental health is no different than seeking professional help for your physical health. You visit your physician for routine checkups or when you feel as though there is a disconnect within your body. If you don’t, you’ll notice that your physical health begins to impact your daily functioning and hinders you from experiencing joy.

Taking care of your mental health is no different. Neglecting to take care of your mental well-being can have the same negative side effects as neglecting to take care of your physical health. It should be just as common to visit a mental health professional for check-ins, and even more so if you are feeling a disconnect within your mental well-being. Just as with physical ailments, ignoring feelings of mental discomfort may mean they will build and get worse over time and can negatively impact your day-to-day life.

Seeking mental health support from a well-trained professional who is a good fit for you will leave you feeling heard and understood and with a sense of release and hope.

APPROACH TO COUNSELLING

If you are feeling disconnected or lost in your life, I want to help you find your inner voice and support you on your journey to healing, self-love, and acceptance. I will work collaboratively with you to explore your thoughts, emotions, and challenges.

When asked what led me to become a therapist, I have to credit my background working as a teacher in special education. I spent over 10 years studying and working with individuals living with cognitive disabilities and developed a deep understanding of how disability can affect not only one’s mental well-being but also the well-being of those who care for them.

Prior to becoming a therapist, I worked as a high school special education teacher, where I witnessed the complex emotions my students experienced as they watched their neurotypical peers gain independence, pursue higher education, and build relationships. I also supported parents and caregivers who faced their own emotional struggles and the guilt that can come from needing to care for themselves while caring deeply for others.

These experiences inspired me to pursue a master’s degree in Educational Psychology and Special Education and ultimately led me to counselling. I felt called to fill a gap I saw in the mental health field, to better support those living with cognitive disabilities, as well as their caregivers, through a compassionate, informed, and holistic approach.

In my work, I draw upon both my educational and therapeutic background to help individuals navigate the challenges of living with or caring for someone with a disability. I also support those who experience burnout, perfectionism, or compassion fatigue, whether in personal, professional, or caregiving roles.

If you are feeling a disconnect in your life but can’t pinpoint where it’s coming from, I would be happy to get to know you and help you find clarity and healing so you can regain your ability to experience life to the fullest.

The journey through life is not linear, and not everyone experiences it in the same way; however, most are more willing to share and talk about the positives than the negatives. This tendency to edit out the hard parts can lead us to believe that our struggles are rare or shameful, leaving us feeling isolated. When we hide and ignore our shame and struggles, they often grow stronger, impacting our relationships, performance, and ability to experience joy.

No matter where you are in life, I am here to provide a compassionate, listening ear. I will help you realize that you are not alone in your journey and guide you through times of hardship. I aim to help you process life’s experiences (both positive and negative) so you can find release, peace, and a renewed capacity for joy.

In my professional practice, I believe in going beyond addressing immediate concerns. I strive to understand my clients on a deeper level, explore the roots of their challenges, and guide them toward profound self-awareness and lasting growth.

“Working with Arynne has been life-changing for me. I came in feeling completely overwhelmed and stuck in patterns from past trauma, and she helped me feel safe enough to talk through things I’d never shared before. She’s patient, compassionate, and has this way of helping me see situations from a new perspective without ever feeling judged. I’ve learned tools for managing my anxiety and for setting better boundaries in my relationships. I’m so grateful I found her.”
